The Davidoff Wagner 2004 is a beautiful Salomones format, featuring a complex blend of tobacco now aged well over a decade. This cigar uses a famed 151 Habano Ecuador wrapper, Olor Seco binder, and filler with a variety of tobacco from various regions of the Dominican Republic. Majority of the filler is a variety of Ligero tobacco, some even proprietary hybrid seeds developed and grown in different regions. Each of these tobaccos within the filler are aged over 10 years, some close to two decades, still maintaining very intense, interesting flavors, having developed over the years to provide an even more balanced, flavorful experience.
Pre-light, the cigars gives off earthy spice and heavy notes of wood.
1/3 - Black pepper and Cinnamon spice with some sweet toasted caramel flavors. From the start, a cigar containing tobacco aged for such a long time would not be expected to deliver such bold flavors, but when a good percentage is Ligero tobacco, the rest of the tobacco balances out to various flavors and an intensity that is very satisfying.
2/3 - Introduces notes of sweet spices, cocoa, roasted coffee, still maintaining hints of caramel.
3/3 - Bold flavors continue. Retrohale exhibits intense spice. Flavors of Cinnamon, Cocoa, black coffee and wood. Light notes of mineral and earth also appear, with sweet, spicy and bitter stimulation.
