Sir Winston Churchill was man made of many experiences.
His curiosity about life, his quest for knowledge, his desire to travel, all these combined to form a personality with more facets than a dice in his belvoed backgammon set.
These personal ingredients mixed and mingled to make a unique character. He was indeed a complex blend.
The cigars which bear his name also have this quality.
To reflect Sir Winston's lifelong pursuit of tasting the wider world, Davidoff's Master Blender crafted fascinating blends of aged Nicaraguan, Ecuadorian, Mexican and Dominican tobaccos.
The original collection
The original Davidoff Winston Churchill cigars are wrapped in a beautiful shiny and oily wrapper with a slight reddish touch.
The complex blend delights with flavours of pepper, dark coffee, old leather, wood and spices and ends with a creamy and nutty aftertaste and rich aroma.
The strength of the cigars is medium to full-bodied (depending on format), making them the perfect choice for every aficionado looking for rich flavours without too much intensity.
The rich flavours deliver a distinct taste stimulation, but still bring the refinement and elegance you would expect from a Davidoff cigar.
" Just may be the best cigar I smoked this year "
" This well made smoke is finished w/a perfectly applied wrapper w/ beautiful sheen "
" A multi-layered aromatic small format, delicately peppery, harmonious & med-bodied "
The late hour
For the darker side of Sir Winston, Davidoff has selected a shiny and oily Habano Ecuador wrapper in a beautiful dark chocolate colour.
The two Nicaraguan filler tobaccos grown in the mineral-rich volcanic soils of Condega and Estelí add spiciness and depth of character to the cigars. Especially the Nicaraguan Condega Visus tobacco, which has been cask-aged in original Scottish First Fill Whisky casks and gives the cigar its mysterious sweetness.
Two different Dominican Visus filler tobaccos and a dark Mexican binder round off the complex full-bodied blend, delivering many beautiful, robust flavours and aromas and delighting the palate with multiple layers of black pepper, dark coffee, sweetness, old leather, wood and spice.
" ...starts off with fine sandalwood and leathery aromas, delicate pepper and a light salty note. It then develops creamy smoke, a subtle sourness, coffee and chocolate notes, as well as earthy aromas "
" Davidoff has produced yet another cigar that is characteristically unique. It now joins the Davidoff Escurio and Yamasa in my monthly rotation. "
" The Late hour is very good; the best regular production Davidoff of recent memory. I think this is ultimately the cigar people were hoping the Davidoff Nicaragua would be: a stronger version of the complex and well-made cigars for which Davidoff is known. "
The Nicaraguan Condega filler tobacco of the Winston Churchill - The Late Hour cigars, which has been cask-aged in finest single scotch whisky casks, makes these cigars more intense and spicier than their original counterparts and adds mysterious sweet and deep flavours.
The use of higher grade tobacco leaves (Visus instead of Seco) also makes the cask aged Winston Churchill - The Late Hour cigars more intense than the cigars of the original collection.
Finally, the Winston Churchill - The Late Hour cigars are wrapped in a shiny and oily Habano Ecuador wrapper in a beautiful dark chocolate colour which also adds intensity.
